Arise, Ser Limegrove? PAUL ALTMAN KNIGHTED

Well-known realtor, Paul Bernard Altman, has been awarded the Knight Bachelor in the Queen’s New Year Honours List.

He has been honoured for service to the preservation of historic buildings and real estate development.

Mr. Altman has been involved in the real estate business for over 30 years, and is the Managing Director of Altman Real Estate. He has been one of the leading figures in developing Barbados' luxury residential market and is responsible for establishing Limegrove Lifestyle Centre - Barbados' first mix-used centre. Limegrove consists of about 100 retailers and restaurants, a nightclub and cinemas.

He is also involved in local urban renewal programmes. As a Past President of the Barbados National Trust, he led the development of two museums – the Nidhe Israel Museum and the Arlington Museum.

Mr. Altman is a trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Barbados. In 2013, he received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal for his service to this award scheme and to the Barbados Youth Business Trust.

He is also passionate about education, and in 2008, he was presented with the University of the West Indies (UWI) Caribbean Luminary Award and was inducted into UWI’s Chancellor’s Circle. He currently serves as Chairman of the Campus Council at the Cave Hill Campus. In 2000 and 2007, he was awarded a Centennial Honour and a Gold Crown of Merit, respectively, by the Government of Barbados. (EM/BGIS).
